Web Host Infinitie Networks Adds IPv6 Support

Web hosting provider Infinitie Networks (www.infinitie.net) announced on Wednesday that it has completed IPv6 deployment across its network.

With World IPv6 Day less than a month away, web hosts have been readying their networks for the transition to IPv6. On Tuesday, IT software provider Ipswitch announced that 88 percent of business networks are not fully ready for the transition.

This month, Parallels Plesk Panel 10.2 added IPv6 support, and Peer 1 launched its IPv6 enabled 10GB backbone network.

Infinitie Networks says it is now offering IPv4 and IPv6 Dual Stack address space on all new dedicated server and colocation orders. Its team spent two months enhancing the core network to make Infinitie Networks fully IPv6 ready.

According to the press release, "each new dedicated server, colocation, and IP transit customer will be receiving a /64 of IP address space to begin testing and implementation of new software. A /64 is roughly 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 IP addresses and is the smallest allocation that ARIN suggests to be allocated to an end user." Infinitie Networks says it has approximately 4 billion of these allocations.

Routing IPv6 natively over the entire network, Infinitie Networks says its website will be upgraded to be fully accessible over both IPv4 and IPv6 in the coming weeks.

"We are excited to be pioneers of this technology and to be able to provide it to our customers," Austin Giebel, director of network operations for Infinitie Networks said in a statement. "This is a truly exciting advancement for the Infinitie Networks Community."
